Questions and answers — Tustel Framer
Answers to what buyers of Tustel for Framer ask most, from plans and breakpoints to the CMS and the form, then the demo text to replace before you publish.
Is Tustel for Framer really free? Yes. Copy it, build your site with it and publish it. What you may do with the template itself is set by the terms on the page where you got it (Framer Marketplace or framebrick.co). In short: use it for your sites, don’t resell the template.
Do I need a paid Framer plan?
No, to build and publish on a free framer.website address. Yes, for a custom domain: Tustel has four CMS collections
(the services and testimonials count, though they have no pages), so it needs Framer’s Pro plan. See
Which Framer plan do you need?.
My change on Desktop didn’t appear on Phone. The Phone breakpoint has its own value for that property. Select the layer on Phone and reset the override, or make the change there too (Getting started).
A new CMS item doesn’t show on the site. Its Status is Draft, or the site hasn’t been published since. Set it to Live and publish.
A new post doesn’t come first on Home or the Blog. The lists follow the order of the CMS table, not the dates. Drag the post to the top of the Blog table. The demo posts aren’t in date order either: the Blog opens with Apr 16, 2025, while the newest is from May 30, 2025.
Works and Blog show only six items. That’s on purpose: six on desktops and four on tablets and phones, then more appear each time the visitor scrolls down to the loading ring, until every item is shown.
The Catalog / List switch doesn’t show on a tablet or a phone. It’s for desktops only. Tablets and phones always show the cards: the first four projects.
The services on Home don’t open when I point at them on a tablet. On desktops, pointing at a service shows its details; on tablets a click does, and on phones each service opens under its name like an accordion.
On Home, the solid header only shows when I scroll up. That’s how the template is built: the header over the photo scrolls away with the page, and a second, solid header appears once the visitor has scrolled past the client logos, only while they scroll back up. It follows the section set as the Primary template’s Scroll Section, the client logos on Home (Getting started). If you delete or move that section, set the Scroll Section again. The 404 page has none, so its second header never shows.
The header disappears when I scroll down. On every page but Home and 404, the solid header hides as the visitor scrolls down and comes back as soon as they scroll up, so it never covers what they are reading.
The menu doesn’t show which page I’m on. That’s the design: the menu links look the same on every page and fill with orange on hover.
A light-blue strip slides across the Home hero every few seconds. A bug in the template: it’s the 10 px gap between two photos of the hero slideshow, which shows the slideshow’s default background while the photos move. Open Slideshow/Hero Background, select the slideshow and set its fill to black, or its gap to 0.
On phones, the details under a project’s title are cut off. A bug in the template: the row of Client, Category, Year and Timeline stays on one line on phones and runs off the screen, cutting off the timeline. In the project page design (Pages), select the row on the Phone breakpoint and let it wrap. Its last item, the timeline, is a layer named “Year”.
The form doesn’t send anything. It has no destination yet, or the site wasn’t published after adding one. Add one under Send to (Forms), publish, and test on the live site.
Framer says a component has an update. Components from Framer (in Assets → Components → Framer: Slideshow and Spinner) are updated by Framer from time to time. Updating is usually safe; check the slideshows on Home and the loading of Works and Blog afterwards.
Can I get the design as code? Yes: the same design is available as Next.js, Astro and HTML editions, on https://framebrick.co/templates/tustel. A Figma file is coming.
Where do the photos and the client logos come from? The photos are from Unsplash, and the client logos are samples drawn for the template. They are fine to keep while you build. Replace them with your own before you publish, so the site shows your work and your clients.
Demo text to replace
Section titled “Demo text to replace”The demo copy has a few leftovers. Replace them with your own text before you publish (search the CMS and the pages):
- The demo person, Alex Carter: the name in the logo, the Home and About heroes and the footer note, the role “Photographer & Creative Designer Based in California”, and the three testimonials, which all praise Alex.
- An e-mail on a domain the template doesn’t own:
hello@alexcarter.com(Home, Contact and every project page). Mail sent to it doesn’t reach you. - The phone number +1 (415) 123-4567, with the location and the response time next to it in “Let’s work together”.
Its link keeps the spaces and brackets (
tel:+1 (415) 123-4567): most phones dial it anyway, buttel:+14151234567is safer. - One title and description for every page (Going live).
- Generic links: “Book a call” opens cal.com’s home page, and the social links (Behance, Dribbble, Instagram, Youtube) open the networks’ home pages. Point them to your own booking page and profiles.
- The client logos on Home: samples, not real clients. Use your clients’ logos, or delete the section (then see the header question above).
- The counters: “80+ Years Experience” and the three other figures, in Misc/Stats.
- Two texts:
- “Project Descripton” on every project page: a typo for “Project Description” (in the project page design);
- “More about us” under “About me” on Home, on a one-person site: “More about me” reads better.
- The Blog’s “Uncategory” option, the default for new posts (The CMS).
- The form placeholders:
jane@framer.comin the e-mail field and “Framer” in the organization field (Forms). - The copyright year in the footer note is typed: update it each year.
